Many were probably expecting to see Puzzle Bobble enthroned definitely the first step... And finally, Magical Drop has been chosen. More intense, more fun, the gameplay is above technically and more deep: Data East's game surpasses Taito's in many ways, including the realization and 1-player adventure, less monotonous. Magical Drop III even offers a party adventure for a single player.
Timeless classic known by every single gamer on the planet, Puzzle Bobble is a benchmark in the puzzle genre. Its simple and addictive gameplay made it a tremendous success in the arcades. The two-player duels are intense and fun, and competitions with friends can last entire nights!
Quite innovative in its gameplay (we change the color of the projectile that is launched, to pierce or bounce onto the other balls), Ghostlop packs enough fun to match the tenors of Puzzle Game. Nicely crafted and boasting a sympathic mood, this other Data East title ends up on third place in this hotly contested category on the system.
Having for unique other competitor the way older Top Player's Golf, Big Tournament Golf - aka Neo Turf Masters - is the best and the most refined sport game for the Neo Geo. The gameplay is comprehensive and taking, the controls are perfect, and players can quickly run into the competition with its blowing game system, six different golfers, four eighteen-holed courses, and top-notch realization.
A game of Frisbee! Admit it was a bold... and Data East did it! With a certain panache, we have to say. Taking back basics of the legendary Pong, Windjammers offers to embody one of the six different players on one over six available fields. You'll have to feint the opponent and pass the catch out to score points! Nice playing solo, the game becomes downright super-fun for two players... Tantrums guaranteed!
3. Ultimate 11
Ultimate 11, made of very successful pre-rendered 3d, is a true traditional arcade soccer game. Very complete, the game offers a choice of 80 national teams, two championships and of course VS for two players. Power gauge, phases of 'luck' (used to shoot at goal from a distance), penalty kicks, dribbles, feints... all is included, but players can also make tactics adjustments for the team, all this making it an "arcade soccer" very well thought out and brilliant.
Released in 1990, Alpha Denshi's game remains a benchmark for our good old Neo Geo. Packing an inhuman difficulty, Magician Lord turns out to be quite a challenge for any fan of platform games. Gorgeous graphics and full of personality, featuring epic music and spectacular bosses ... It's number one!
2. Blue's Journey
Blue's Journey offers an atmosphere more festive and colorful through six beautiful and varied worlds. Shops, houses, characters, items to find or buy... The gameplay is not limited to platforming, that's cool! Playable two simultaneously and a packing a lot of fun behind its beautiful realization, the title is an excellent platformer on the system.
