NEOGEOKULT TOP 3
1. Metal Slug X
Inevitable! Metal Slug whole saga deserves to get on the podium, but come on, let's decide! It's Metal Slug X that delights the hotly contested rank #1 of this table. Flawless gameplay, unique atmosphere, hidden bonuses by hundreds, great cooperative play... It's probably this Metal Slug that most players will always comes back, thanks to its perfect length and very well proportioned difficulty.
2. Metal Slug 3
Metal Slug 3 is the episode of superlatives: huge, breathtaking, impressive, amazing! This album is the longest one but also the most difficult, with multiple possible paths and countless vehicles. The realization is a cut above Metal Slug X, but its high difficulty will stop a few players: At every point of view, the 3 is the best Metal Slug and yet, we put the X at the first place... Go figure!
3. Metal Slug
The ancestor, the game that started it all! Metal Slug keeps this charm and ambiance that can only have the first one of a saga. Released in 1996, it has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of facing the younger episodes. It remains an eternal benchmark of gameplay, with its well-balanced difficulty, its various levels and some pleasant surprises though. Only drawback, it's a little short... but contains a lot of hidden bonuses!
1. Fight Fever
A first hotly contested place, finally obtained by the fabulous fighting game of the famous Viccom. Charismatic characters, infinite range of moves, specific and technical gameplay, amazing sound effects and original music, ultra-decomposed animation -even too much. Not to mention the indecent roster (8 characters!). Remember that the game was released in 1994, while the competition struggled with titles technically clueless (Super Street Fighter 2, Samurai Shodown 2, Kof 94). In short, a well deserved title of Number One for the big, the one and only: Fiiiiiiiiiiight....... Feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvvvver!
Legend of Success Joe is the story of a drama. The drama of not even being able, in the void and abjection, to be the best. Being robbed the first place by Fight Fever, it's hard. Very hard. Yet, so much qualities can be found in LOSJ. Graphics varied, colorful, deep: to turn pale with shame programmers of Garou: Mark of the Wolves. The animation? It's like... how to say... good, the hero, Joe, is a bit constipated, okay. Well about the enemies, they probably stolen all the sweeps of the city. I'm not talking about music and sound effects, as the gameplay, it comes down to being beaten up again and again, while railing against the fucking controller! Pure happiness.
3. Power Spikes II
However, for our first two, it was easy, as they outpace -by far- the "competition". For this third place of the Intergalactic Crap, several titles were approached. So please applause Power Spikes 2 from Video System: graphics, a game that might as well have ran on the NES, but they had better things to do at the time!
